GREETINGS FROM CONFERENCE ORGANIZERS
GREETINGS FROM DR. JIMMY G. CHEEK

Greetings:

We hope this message finds you well and looking forward to the 44th Annual Caribbean Food Crops Society (CFCS) Meeting scheduled for July 13-17, 2008 in Miami, Florida.  The University of Florida’s Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences will be hosting the meeting and it is the first time this event will be held outside of the insular Caribbean and Central America.  This meeting will provide an excellent opportunity for you to share your research, network with potential collaborators, and participate in lively discussions about issues impacting Caribbean agriculture.  If you have not yet registered or submitted an abstract for consideration please do so now at:

http://cfcs.eea.uprm.edu/44th_Meeting/Home.htm

The CFCS organization attracts experts from a variety of disciplines, including horticulture, agricultural and biological engineering, marine science, natural resources, and animal science among other areas that pertain to agriculture and food resources in the greater Caribbean basin.  A very exciting, engaging, and timely program has been planned.  We invite your attendance and ask you to share this message with faculty, graduate students, and others who we know will be interested in participating.  Scholarships for students are available on a limited basis.  For more scholarship information, see the website at:

http://cfcs.eea.uprm.edu/44th_Meeting/Miguel_and_Aurora_Lugo_CFCS_Scholars_2008.pdf.

A greeting from Dr. Jimmy G. Cheek, Senior Vice President for Agriculture and Natural Resources at the University of Florida and President of CFCS, follows.  The materials he refers to in this greeting are being mailed now and are also available in PDF format on the CFCS website:

Greetings:

I am writing to invite you to attend and also request your assistance with publicizing an important event that we are hosting in Florida this summer, the 44th Annual Caribbean Food Crops Society (CFCS) Meeting. The CFCS will meet from July 13 to 17, 2008 in Miami, the first time this international meeting has convened in the U.S.

We want to reach as wide an audience as possible to inform them of this major event. Would you help us by distributing the enclosed materials to your colleagues, including faculty, graduate students, and others who may be interested in presenting their research? The organization includes disciplines such as marine science, natural resources, environmental science, horticulture, animal science, trade, and a host of other areas as they pertain to agriculture and food resources in the greater Caribbean basin.

An exciting, engaging, and timely program has been planned to address pertinent issues impacting Caribbean agriculture. I encourage your attendance and ask you to bring along your colleagues and stakeholders. I look forward to seeing you in Miami in July.

For more details and registration information please visit the conference website at: http://cfcs.eea.uprm.edu/44th_Meeting/Home.htm.

Best Regards,
Jimmy G. Cheek
President, Caribbean Food Crops Society

Saludos:

Cordialmente,
Jimmy G. Cheek
Presidente, Caribbean Food Crops Society
Senior Vice President

Jimmy G. Cheek
Président de la Société caribéenne
pour la production alimentaire
Premier Vice-Président
