Full Instructions for Abstract Submission

An abstract is a communication of restricted length that allows informed readers to evaluate significant contributions of a scientific study, method or technique of teaching or extension. An abstract becomes part of literature and is often the only part of the paper read so it must be written in a useful and concise manner. The abstract should include a problem statement, objectives, brief methods, quantitative results, and the significance of your findings. Oral papers or posters should consist of original, completed work that has not been previously published in a journal.

The abstract structure should be as follows:

1. The title should be in bold and mixed capital and lower case letters. It should not exceed 20 words in length.

2. The text should not exceed 350 words, including the title, authors and keywords (maximum of 3 words or phrases). Abstracts should be composed in Microsoft Word for Windows using Arial 12 pt. font in single space.

3. Tables and figures should not be included.

Abstracts should be submitted electronically in Microsoft Word format by email attachment to the CFCS editorial-scientific committee on or before May 16, 2008.

The body of the email should contain 4 items.

1. The full name of all authors as it should appear on a program,
2. the organization(s) you represent,
3. your desired presentation format (Oral or Poster)
4. The email of the primary person which should be contacted regarding this abstract.

Submit abstracts by email to:  cfcs08@ifas.ufl.edu

Due to space constraints, a limited number of oral presentations will be entertained. However, participants are encouraged to present their research findings in the poster section to expand the presentation of material, to facilitate discussion of research results, provide interaction among members, and to diversify the meeting format. A list of accepted abstracts will be posted in our website in June 2008. The list will specify if the work will be delivered as an oral presentation or as a scientific poster. Authors of rejected abstracts will be notified by electronic mail stating the reasons for rejection.
